What motivated you to start your business?

It all starting in 2010 wanting to publish a cookbook. The blog started as a place where I can share recipes online. NEVER did I know it would turn into a business.

What in life inspires you to create more of what you love?

My children and husband inspire me to do what I love. They love and appreciate my cooking. Just like my mom and grandma did—their cooking was their way of showing their love for their family. I want to continue that tradition.

What is your biggest dream for your business and/or life?

I'm always dreaming big! I'd love a Muy Bueno product line (salsas, sauces, cookware). I'd love to write more books. I would love a cooking show!

What is the largest hurdle you've had to overcome to get to where you are now?

Self-doubt and patience. It's easy to think we are not good enough and I'm always wondering why and when? I try to remind myself to be grateful daily. We are sometimes in a hurry to make it big. But instead we need to be patient, stop, enjoy, and trust our journey.

What is one piece of advice you'd give women looking to step into your field?

Just do it! Nike stole my slogan ;-) But it is true!!! If you want to start a blog do it because you love it, not because you think it’s a get rich quick scheme. Blogging is HARD work. If you want to turn it into a business, then drown yourself in research. There is so much guidance you can find online and at conferences. But don't forget to most importantly have fun! If you are not having fun, then don't do it!

What do you do to reset and refresh when life feels heavy?

Step away from my computer or kitchen. Eat out, read a magazine or cookbook, shop for props, travel—stepping away is a great way to get inspired.

What is your favorite activity on days off?

Hanging out with my family. We live in Colorado and love the outdoors. I love anything outdoorsy like hiking!

If you could hop on a plane right now where would you go and why?

I have always had a fascination with Barcelona, Spain. I have never been to Spain and my heart for some reason wants me to visit.

Who would you invite to dinner? Frida Kahlo, Virgen de Guadalupe, or someone else that inspires you?

    Marilyn Monroe.
